In essence, this makes your cabinets a breeding ground for catch-all items and storage.

First and foremost, we understand that people use their cabinets for a number of reasons.

If you lack a pantry, it may seem ideal to use a cabinet space or two for food, spice, and other kitchen necessities. Keep your unique situation in mind as your work through the tips we have to offer.
Set aside a day and time to work on your cabinets.
Depending on your kitchen design and how many cabinets you have to clean and declutter, you’ll want to make sure you dedicate enough time to focus solely on this task.
If necessary, consider breaking it down to a couple days or weekends in order to get it all done. Overall, be intentional with following through with whatever day and time you set.
Consider taking smaller steps.
If you have accumulated a ton of stuff in your kitchen cabinets, then it’s a good idea to tackle one cabinet at a time.
Trying to clean out every single packed cabinet you have all at once can quickly become stressful and overwhelming. Once you start pulling things out of your cabinets, you’ll see exactly what we mean.
Take everything out of the area you chose to clean first.
Whether you’re doing one cabinet or one shelf, remove everything from that area. Once everything is removed, clean and sanitize the area.
You may find a few breadcrumbs and dust pockets, but that’s okay! This is why it’s a great idea to remove everything so you can do a thorough clean.
Look through the items you removed and determine their fate.
Now that you’ve gotten everything removed, look at each item and decide if it needs to go back in that area, be placed somewhere else, or be thrown away completely.

In some instances you may want to start a donate, give away, or sell pile. The idea is to get rid of anything extra that doesn’t serve a true purpose to you and your kitchen.
Replace items you chose to keep.
Whatever you chose to keep, place them back in the cabinet in an organized fashion.
If you could benefit from adding any storage solutions, be sure to determine that and purchase them before placing anything back on the shelves. This will keep you from having to double back.
Also keep in mind that if you’re tackling one cabinet at a time, there may be some rearranging happening as you continue decluttering and clearing other cabinets and shelves. That’s okay too.
Rinse and repeat.
The tips we just suggested should be completed for each and every cabinet and/or shelf that you are decluttering until the entire job has been completed.
Remember that you don’t have to try to do it all in one go, especially if you have lots of cabinets and an overwhelming amount of stuff. The goal is to start a task and complete it all the way through, no matter how small.
